Through 91±¬ÁÏÍø Langone Health’s Pediatric Preoperative Optimization Program (PPOP), our experts help children who may have complex medical, surgical, or emotional needs prepare for surgery. We work closely with surgeons and doctors across our health system to care for your child before their procedure.

Your Care Journey With PPOP

Your child’s surgical team at 91±¬ÁÏÍø Langone must refer them to PPOP. Our team conducts evaluations in person at Fink Children’s Ambulatory Care Center or by video visit.

During your appointment, you will meet with a PPOP team member, who will take time to get to know your child and ask questions about their medical, surgical, social, and behavioral history to better understand their unique needs. They can also address any questions or concerns you may have about preparing for surgery.

Based on the evaluation, PPOP will make recommendations to the surgical team about how to best support your child before, during, and after surgery. That may include additional medical appointments, testing, imaging, or consultations before surgery.

Throughout the process, your PPOP provider will partner with your child’s surgical team to complete the recommendations and continue to support you and your child before the procedure.
